Internships are a required part of your major within The Department of Apparel, Events & Hospitality Management. 

Your internship experience will occur outside the traditional classroom, requiring an academic component, with enrollment in AESHM/HSP M 470 

Your internship also requires on-site supervision or a mentoring/teaching relationship with your employer. 

While completing your internship, you are both a Student and an Employee** 

**Unpaid interns often are not classified as employees and may not qualify for the same protections awarded to employees following the U.S. Department of Labor's (DOL) guidelines and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)

As a Student and Employee**, you have resources from Iowa State University and other federal departments/agencies. Using the provided resource guide, identify who you should contact if a dilemma occurs while completing your internship for academic credit.
