Lecture 14Visual Culture of Ideal Human Forms, 18th- and 19th-Century "Perfect Ladies"

Upon completion of this module, which includes Lectures 14 and 15, students will have accomplished the following:

MLO 8.1: Students will be able to identify the two main types of "Ideal" upper-class woman according to 18th- and 19th-century social standards in Europe and America, as presented in Lecture 14.
MLO 8.2: Students will recognize how the "Ideal" upper-class woman was represented in paintings and later in photography, as discussed in Lecture 14.
MLO 8.3: Students will recognize several ways in which the French Queen Marie-Antoinette was represented in paintings and drawings according to varied social opinions, as demonstrated in Lecture 14.
MLO 8.4: Students will recognize the influence of literary sources on representations of the "Ideal" woman in paintings, drawings, and photography, as discussed in Lecture 14.

While viewing the slides, be sure to take notes just as you would during a regular face-to-face classroom lecture. This will put you in good shape to take Lecture Quiz 14/15 (optional) as well as the Midterm Exam, the latter of which is due no later than 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, March 10th.
