Purpose
This assignment will help you learn the Chinese characters for L6D1.
Task
In order to successfully complete this assignment do the following:
1) For the characters for L6D1, copy the simplified character in the box at least 5-10 times in the grid boxes. If there are two rows of characters and the top one is more complicated--that is the traditional character. You do not need to practice the traditional forms of the character.
2) Remove the character workbook pages from the workbook, staple them together, write your name on the front, and turn them in at the beginning of class (with both hands!)
Note: If you do not have the workbook, you can copy the characters from the online pdf onto your own paper. I strongly recommend buying some grid paper from the bookstore to help you keep your characters balanced.
Important tips:
Work slowly, especially at first. You will be more successful if you make each stroke carefully.
Use the proper stroke order as shown by the numbers next to the strokes in the workbook for each character. This will help you develop the muscle memory you will need to write characters from memory later in the course.
Try to keep your character balanced across the entire square so that it looks like the character in the picture. Try not to write your character really tiny in the corner of the box or smooshed up against one side of the box. Using the grid boxes should help with this.
Grading Criteria
Full Credit will be given for on-time submission of this assignment.
