Hello and welcome! My name is Dr. Jennifer Macasek and I will be your instructor for CHIN 101: Elementary Mandarin Chinese. I am a non-native speaker of Chinese who started studying Chinese as an undergraduate student over 15 years ago. Over the years, I have studied in Beijing, Taipei, and Shanghai. I have a PhD in Literature with a focus on 20th Century Chinese Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz. I teach using best practices in foreign language pedagogy and by sharing my own experiences as a lifelong Chinese language learner. I look forward to working with you this semester!
