Module 9 M9 Rose-Thorn-Bud Reflection

Overview

Reflecting on your action research project and evaluating your progress is important. While action research can feel overwhelming, remember to keep our "steps" in mind to guide and pace your design of the action research study. Your goal is to create an action research project (aligned with an action research framework) to transform you from a passive consumer of educational theory into an active producer of knowledge, while improving practice, and making informed decisions and choices.

This rose-thorn-bud reflection activity serves as a quick check-in to gauge your progress at this point in the semester.

Directions

  1. Complete the three questions, reflecting on your progress in completing the action research project.
    • Rose - a small win or accomplishment
    • Thorn - a challenge you are facing
    • Bud - something you are looking forward to
  2. Submit your responses to the assignment area.

Grading

This participation activity is worth 5 points and will be graded based on thoughtful engagement and completion. To earn full credit, students should clearly address all three prompts—Rose, Thorn, and Bud—and reflect meaningfully on their progress in completing the action research project. A strong response will identify a specific accomplishment, describe a genuine challenge related to action research, and articulate something they are looking forward to as they continue their work. Partial credit may be awarded if responses are overly vague, incomplete, or do not fully address all three components.
