PSP stands for Problem-Solving Practice.

PSP 07a includes problems 25, 29, 35, 38, 42, 45, 49, 51, 53, 92, 117, and 124 (analyze the wood only, not the glue) from Chapter 6 of the free downloadable textbook.

For cross-sections that are not hollow or solid rectangular or hollow or solid circular, you may use Cross-Section Calculators | calcresource to get the second moment of area I and the location of the centroid. On an exam problem, you must compute the second moment of area I for a solid or hollow rectangular or a solid or hollow circular cross-section. For any cross-section other than that, the second moment of area would be given as part of the problem statement, as well as the location of the centroid.

You may solve these problems and check your answers in Appendix F or within this quiz. You may leave and return to this Ungraded Canvas Quiz as many times as you wish.

If you would like to review internal shear force and internal bending moment (V&M equations and V&M diagrams) that you learned in Statics, you may solve Problems 60(a), 62(a), 64(a), 68, 69, 74, 79, 83, and 86 from Chapter 6. These problems are optional because they are Statics review, and they are not included in this PSP. You may check your answers in Appendix F or create a free account at SkyCiv and use their beam analysis tool to check your V&M diagrams.
