What to Bring

The What to Bring page Links to an external site. will give you an idea of what to bring to campus for your apartment. Dress in the lab is casual; jeans/pants and t-shirts are good. We don't recommend short shorts. The lab is a little cool, so that you may want a sweatshirt or a sweater. You will want to bring your towels and bed linens, including a pillow. The mattresses that are provided are 80" (extra long.)

In addition to your clothing, personal items, and things you will need for your apartment, you will want to bring the following items:

  • One summer dress outfit, suitable for a cultural event and the end of the term Symposium.  Suggestions for men include a button-down shirt and slacks. Suggestions for women include dress, skirt, or slacks.
  • Swimsuit (and sporting equipment if you have any available: frisbees, basketball, tennis equipment, soccer ball, etc.) – There is a waterpark within walking distance to your apartment. Sporting equiptment can also be rented from State Gym.
  • Tennis or hiking shoes. Athletic/Gym Clothes.
  • Umbrella and/or raincoat. (It rains here in the summer, and you will be walking across campus a lot!)
  • Cell phone
  • Laptop computer, or tablet, if you have one.
  • Notes on what is provided in your apartment and by the program can be found in the housing tab.

We will take you to Walmart or Target (your choice) on Tuesday evening, May 27, after our welcome dinner, to pick up necessary items that you were unable to pack and bring. You will receive $300 in cash to spend at one of these stores.
