- Explore your desired career. Go to one of these two websites: My Next Move Links to an external site. or O*Net Online Links to an external site. ( a database which can be used to explore occupations - it includes almost 1000 occupations and has detailed information about each.) Learn about the skills required and find out salary information.
- Explore the Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH) Links to an external site.. This is an online publication that has information on hundreds of occupations in the United States. The OOH is a rich resource for those seeking career guidance. The OOH can help you find career information on duties, education and training, pay, and outlook for hundreds of occupations. Each occupational profile in the OOH is made up of nine separate “pages” or tabs: a summary page highlighting key characteristics of the occupation, and additional pages including pay, job outlook, and state and area data. Be sure to look at the State and area data relevant to where you plan to locate after graduation. Be able to answer:Learn about the skills required and find out salary information. Is the demand for workers in this career expected to increase, decrease, or stay the same over the next decade? Why?
