For this assignment, students will create a final project that demonstrates their understanding of major course themes. Ideally, this project allows you to study a "problem of practice" in your professional/disciplinary area. The final "product" can be traditional (i.e., a 10-12 page paper), or it can be more experimental or innovative (i.e., a short movie, an explainer module, a short curriculum for teachers/farmers/zoo enthusiasts, a photo collage, a painting, a short comic, a series of infographics...all of these coupled with a shorter 4-6 page paper). The product will allow you an opportunity to think about what it means to teach and learn with technology. You should connect it to at least TWO course modules (i.e., equity and literacy; tech integration+ learning theory). The point here is to LEARN about how to teach/learn with technology in your field of interest/expertise. Then, as part of the final product, students will present their work to the class.
Ideally, you are trying to resolve a problem in your area-- how do I encourage zoo visitors to learn about animals? This might lend itself to a tech-enhanced exhibit that allows visitors to interact with content, animals (in some way), and each other. It would connect to learning theory & equity...
How do the challenges of experienced farmers suggest opportunities to understand every tech use? How can I encourage teachers to develop digital citizenship practices?
I would encourage everyone to set up a 15-20 minute meeting with me in Feb/March to make sure we are on the same path, and to see how I can offer guidance/support!
