STUDIO FUNDAMENTALS: PHOTO
Studio Fundamentals: Photo is an introduction to the tools, materials, and aesthetics of traditional black and white photography. Students complete a series of assignments geared towards developing their technical and conceptual abilities. Competencies in techniques including manual camera controls, film development, and negative enlargement/printing are facilitated by in-class lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. Issues related to image analysis, creative expression and visual communication are explored through readings, class discussions, and critiques. Film cameras are required for class, but a limited number are available to be checked out from the photo area for short periods during semester
